Job Description: External Sales Representative
Reports to:
Managing Director & Sales Manager
Salary:
R15 000 - R20 000 basic (DOE) + Comm + Vehicle allowance + Petrol card
Our Client, based in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, is on the hunt for a Technical Sales Representative to join their team.
Job purpose:
A vacancy exists for Experienced Dynamic Sales Representatives to grow sales and manage existing customers in West Rand, Free State, Northern Cape and parts of North West for a well-known manufacturer of abrasives products.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A Technical Qualification and/or 3+ years proven sales experience in a technical field
- Preferably from a more technical industry such as manufacturing, engineering or Building or similar
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be willing to travel.
- Must reside between the West Rand and the East Rand
SOFT SKILLS REQUIREMENT:
- Excellent Communication Skills, both Verbal and Written
- Strong Negotiation Skills
- Must be MS Office literate (Intermediate to Advanced)
- CRM Management, Call Planning and Sales Reporting.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Manage revenue, profitability, and growth for direct accounts.
- Resolve channel conflicts and minimize potential issues.
- Develop processes to track, report, and communicate account performance.
- Report market trends to Sales and Management.
- Enter competitor markets and conduct cost-benefit analyses.
- Cold call new customers and focus on existing ones.
- Analyze market potential and track sales performance.
- Meet or exceed sales targets and build positive customer relationships.
- Adhere to company policies and maintain integrity.
- Service and develop the existing customer base.
- Represent the company at trade shows and conduct product demos.
- Comply with planning, reporting, and customer management guidelines.
- Maintain and grow customer accounts with internal support.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and handle after-sales care.
- Deliver internal and customer presentations.
- Liaise with the office for client proposals and follow-ups.
- Attend sales meetings and one-on-ones with the Sales Manager.
- Seek new opportunities in the region and communicate feedback to the Sales Manager.
- Coordinate with staff to close sales and provide weekly updates on lost sales and back orders.
- Submit monthly call planners and update CRM daily.
- Provide an annual sales plan including past sales, projections, and target customers.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
