About the role:
Under the guidance of the Director ICT, you will be responsible for providing advice and expertise in the use and development of the school’s platforms with a focus on the efficient use of data.
 
Depending on the candidate and experience, the role could be flexible in terms of commitment and part time options may be available to meet the changing needs of the school throughout the year.
 
Whilst the main focus of the role is maintaining the SIS, there is scope for the right candidate to be heavily involved in further data development, PowerBI, SIS migration and integration with new platforms

• 5+ years of professional IT experience.
• Recent Synergetic or other SIS experience.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems, including but not limited to, Microsoft Teams and Canvas
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or a comparable formal qualification
• Ability to develop and maintain SQL stored procedures, functions and triggers to facilitate data extraction, manipulation and the migration of data between various applications.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrating a careful, efficient and methodical approach to detailed technical work.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills including data extraction, Pivot Tables, lookups etc.
• Ability to design, develop and document system changes based on user’s and business strategic needs.
• Ability to test system changes and diagnose issues, while minimising user impact.
• Ability to balance the needs and experience of the end user with best practices in security, privacy and data retention

• Ability to write well designed SQL queries (desirable)
• Recent experience in a SIS migration (desirable)
• Experience developing bespoke Crystal Reports (desirable)
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI (desirable)
• S SQL Certification (desirable)

• Ensure information availability, security and integrity of the Synergetic SIS.
• Ensure the consistent and accurate flow of information between the core SIS and other applications / third party vendors
• Particular focus will be on the integration between the SIS and LMS platform(s).
• Working with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the accurate import and development of the timetable, parent teacher session and academic reports.
• To complete well annotated and documented database developments and procedures.
• Working with the school’s archivist and other key staff, to implement and manage the data retention policy.
• Documenting and overseeing the backup of the SQL server databases and performing regular testing of the restore process.
• Responsibility for system development and changes including thorough testing.
• System/application upgrades including identifying and managing the impacts of change.
• To assist with data extraction and manipulation including bespoke reports within Crystal Reports, Excel, SSRS and Power BI.
• Work with key users in other departments to identify development and efficiency opportunities.
• Provide regular administrative and technical support to the General Office.
• Be a key part of the induction process for new staff to ensure they are capable and confident users of Synergetic.
• Carry out regular and targeted training of the key staff to ensure the best use of data and enhance the business processes.
• Contribute to and support the wider needs of the ICT Department as required.
